When 6 minutes into an episode you are questioning the logic of the universe of an action show, it generally means one thing. Yes, a children’s card game adaptation. As always with these things, I’m left with more questions than answers. These aren’t the nice questions about what to expect from the show, but the most cynical questions one can come up with.
What immediately comes to mind is are dumb questions like, why how was that guy able to jump straight up in the air to stand on a horse? Why do people just stand around as Tokyo is enveloped in a black portal? Could one of the writers make it less obvious they put a portal in South Africa because they saw District 9? Just how much money did they pay Sawashiro to voice a character in this? Is it possible to hear the characters pronounce “Z/X” and not think they are saying “sex”? (e.g. “Asuka, save the world with your sex”). Did the official translators give zero fucks as indicated below?
I can only see card battle adaptation enthusiasts finishing a show like Sex Ignition in the end. I think calling it that is just going to be the only way I can keep going on this show. It is by far the biggest atrocity committed yet this season, but I’m going to hang around to see if this thing can be come ironically hilarious.
